English translation: This medicine is called Oloireroi, and is used by the Maasai community. This medicine is still used for donkeys, but not as widespread among the Maasai now. The Maasai traditionally believe this medicine has many uses, but are divided. The more traditional Maasai say that this tree is sacred, and using it will bring curses and bad luck, and you cannot drink its sap. Women will not gather firewood from this tree because they say it is blessed and can curse people. But Christian Maasai say that God has told them it is medicine, and they can use it as medicine. But for many Maasai, the church has not reached them and they say it is a cursed tree. Very few animals eat this tree because it grows very tall. When it grows this big there are no fruits, but when it finally falls animals can eat it because it lies on the ground. But for humans its leaves are very bitter.
