Swahili translation:  mimi naitwa Ruben, niko na huyu mgeni tukifanya utafiti wa miti, hii inaitwa Esilalei tree, esilalei ambayo tunatumia kutengeneza moto kwahiyo hii ni kama kiberiti yetu wamasai, lakini pia tunapata gum ambayo tunaita enaing’ure in maasai kwahiyo tunatumia tukipata chui gum hatutasikia kiu na tunapeleka gum kwenye boma ile moshi inafukuza nzi na mbu lakini pia tukikata mti huu tukipanda inaota kwahiyo tunakata branch tunaacha kama siku tatu tunakuja kuchimba shimo halafu tunaotesha na inakua inakua mengi, kwahiyo tunaweza kutumia hii kutengeneza fence ya boma lakini pia mti una kama maua ambayo inatengeneza, hii tunatumia ukifanya hivi halafu tunaweka kwenye ngozi yako inafanya ngozi kuwa nzuri, kwahiyo ndo matumizi ya esilalei.

English translation: My name is Ruben. I am with this visitor doing research on trees. This is called the Esilalei tree. We use Esilalei to make fire, so this is like a Maasai match. We can also get gum from this tree we call enaing’ure in Maasai. We can use this gum when we are thirsty so that our thirst is quenched. If we burn the sap of this tree in the Boma, the smoke from the fire repels flies and mosquitos. Also, if we cut a branch of this tree and plant it, it will grow. We can cut the branch, leave it on the ground for about three days, and then we dig a hole and plant it. It then grows very fast, so we can use it as a strong fence for the boma. The tree also grows flowers. If we rub the flower juice on our skin, it makes the skin beautiful. That is the use of Esilalei.
